GFF: Kusela not vying for Gambia job

The position of the coach of the Gambian national team has becomevacant after the departure of Bonu Johnson, who is now deployed to the local-based national team and CHAN outfit, instead. After the announcement of the vacancy, a plethora of foreign coaches have applied for the position. Among those identified are Kuusela and the ex-gaffer of Burkina Faso, the Belgian-born Paul Put. Put, who according to a source, is favoured to land the job and has been touted to return to the fold for months after publicly making his intentions known during the WC 2014 qualifiers, is believed to be in the race along with Kuusela. But the Gambia Football Federation yesterday moved to refute the rumour. A top GFF official said: ‘I am not in a position to give names of all those who’ve applied. But Kuusela is not part of them (the applicants).’ Martti a former midfielder and football pundit has coached Cyprus and Denmark.  ]]>
