GFF: FOREIGN COACH FOR SENIORS ‘MOST LIKELY’

By Sulayman Bah A foreign coach is most likely to be hired to lead Gambia’s seniorGAMBIA DRAW team in the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers, a top GFF official tells Foroyaa Sport. Gambia are on the verge of filling the coaching job of the seniornational team after having been drawn with Mauritania, South Africa and Cameroon in the qualifiers for the Gabon finals. The position has been vacant following the nullification of Bonu Johnson’s contract earlier this year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS). The ex-GPA gaffer has since been re-hired. this time for a different role as local-based coach for the U-23outfit . His new appointment has cleared the way for the Federation to seek a new man for the senior team with a foreign coach on Football House’s wish-list. GFF’s Ebou Faye told Foroyaa Sport over the weekend: “the process is on (to find a new coach) and very soon we would finalize it.” The Scorpions tee off their campaign with an away match in Johannesburg against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in June. Grilled as to whether a foreign coach remains a priority and how soon would they get one, Faye replied; ‘Very soon. (And)Most likely (it will be) a foreign coach.
