As the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), sets to start its campaign, the party’s secretary Samba Baldeh has told Foroyaa that the rumour that the GDC is sponsored by the APRC is not true and can never be true.

He argued that if they were sponsored by APRC, the APRC government would not have increased the registration fee to One Million Dalasis and the APRC militants would not have joined the GDC.

The campaign programme of the GDC starts on Wednesday, the 16th November and ends on 29TH of November, 2016.

On Wednesday 16 November, they will hold rallies in the Greater Banjul Area, namely Sanchaba Sulay Jobe, Bundung  Borehole, Fagi Kunda and in Tanji, Jambanjelly, Siffoe and Kartong  on Thursday 17th November, 2016.

Samba Baldeh has called on the electorate to come out in their large numbers to listen to the GDC and to make the right choice in a decision making process like election. He also expressed concern about what he referred to as destructive remarks about GDC made in the media which he said would restrict the desire of the electorate to vote for them. He referred to comments made at the Fatou Show that the GDC candidate is not qualified to stand as a presidential candidate and that he is sponsored by APRC; such comments he said “are designed to dissuade the electorate from voting for the GDC candidate.”

According to Samba Baldeh, the GDC is trying to flush out all these rumours from the minds of the people.
