Musa Batchilly the Secretary-General of the Gambia Action Party (GAP) on Monday 30th of September 2019, faulted the Government’s White Paper published by the State after cabinet took decision on the findings and recommendations of the Janneh Commission.
He said the Government’s decision to accept the findings and recommendations of the Janneh Commission on some of those found liable and reject same on others, amounted to selective justice.
Pertaining to the ongoing debate on how long President Adama Barrow should serve in office, GAP SG said the constitution is the supreme law of the Gambia and five years is the Presidential mandate, but added that an individual should respect his or her words no matter what happened.
“Even if you have a genuine plan for the country, but you vowed and promised the nation that the coalition government will stay for three years, it is something common, you can come back to the people and talk to them. They might understand you,” he said.
Batchilly urges the president to come out and talk to the people.
