Gambian Lawmakers Attend Pan African Parliament Session in South Africa

The Gambian parliamentary delegation is currently participating in the Third Ordinary Session of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) in South Africa.

The session commenced on Monday, 24 June 2024 in Midrand, South Africa. The theme of the session is “Educate An African Fit For The 21st Century.” It is aligned with the African Union’s theme of the year.

The delegation is led by Honourable Alhagie Mbow, who is also serving as the Chairperson of the West African Caucus in the Pan-African Parliament.

The member for Banjul South, Fatoumatta Njai alias ToumaNjai was officially sworn in as a new member of the PAP. 

Other Members of the PAP delegation include Sulayman Saho – member for Central Badibou, SwaibouTouray – member for Wuli East, and Salifu Jawo – member for Jokadou.

During the opening session, solidarity messages from various dignitaries were made, including statements by the Dean of Ambassadors of African Countries and the Speaker of the Arab Parliament. 

The Gambian Ambassador to South Africa, Honourable Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, also attended the opening session and met with the Gambian delegation.
