Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, the High Commissioner of The Gambia to Botswana, on Wednesday, 14 February 2024 handed over her credentials to President Dr Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana.
FJC was accompanied by Mr Ousman Rambo Jatta, the Counsellor at the Gambian High Commission.
Ambassador Cessay said she was delighted to present the Letters of Credence from President Adama Barrow, and that she looked forward to enhancing the already strong ties between the two countries, which share common values of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
She recalled that before The Gambia had its own university, some of its students studied in Botswana as part of the former University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland (U.B.L.S).
She said she would use that experience as a source of inspiration to explore other areas of cooperation between The Gambia and Botswana.
FJC also expressed her interest in pursuing a technical and cultural agreement that would elevate the existing excellent relations between the two countries to a higher level.
She expressed optimism over the support of President Masisi and his government in achieving their shared goal of further strengthening their bilateral relations.
