Gambian Police have confirmed to Foroyaa that a resident of Brikama Darul Hairu died on Saturday 2nd January 2021after his son hit him with a stool.

According to an eye witness, Malang Kongira was misbehaving towards his family members and friends and his father Ansuman Kongira went to stop him; but this did not go down well with him and he hit his father with a stool several times and later used a cement block to strike him on the head. 

According to the eye witness, the father fell down and sustained injuries on his face and head; that he was then rushed to the Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead. 

Information gathered by this reporter indicated that Ansuman Kongira was in his 60s, and Malang, who is 30 years old, is a deportee from Germany.

The Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Lamin Njie, said Malang was an aggressive person in his father’s compound; that the father went to calm him down and upon his arrival, he took a stool beside him and hit him on the head; that he also used a cement block to continue hitting the father. 

According to Superintendent Lamin Njie, Malang has since been arrested and detained at the Brikama Madina Police Station and is currently helping Officers in their investigation. 

Superintendent Njie said Malang has told the Police that he was deported from Germany.
