By Sulayman Bah Gambian Volley captain Malick Jammeh is bullish on the team chances in the African Games billed for this week in Congo. The showpiece to officially commence this week in Brazaville will be Gambia’s maiden appearance in a continental volleyball competition. And ahead of the big games, Gambian volleyball player Malick Jammeh is bullish of the team’s chances as he and co fix their gaze on clutching gold. ‘We know that great volleyball nations will converge in Brazzaville for the games and this is our first appearance in continental stage. We will give our best. We aim to raise the flag of our nation by finishing among the best three nations in Africa,’ a buoyed Jammeh says. The Zone II Silver medalist starlet states: ‘We have been training a lot for the past 3 months since we returned from the qualifiers and this has given us the poise of winning the competition; however we must be ready, fit, focus and we won’t take anything for granted’ The Gambian beach volleyball team is being airlifted by President of FIVB Dr. Ary S.
