A bevy of athletes flocked to the Serrekunda West mini-stadium to commence workouts as they readied up for the upcoming national and international events.

Here pictured being led by emerging track sensation Adama Jammeh in a motion high knee drill, majority of athletes present were those on scholarship with Senegalese athletics club Jaraaaf.

Adama who exited the IAAF event in Beijing months ago, put the team –comprising Fatou Sowe, Gina Nass, Hawa J Jallow –through their paces.

Jammeh, tapped from the country’s prisons department, is one of Gambia’s hopes to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.

As recent as July, he was facilitated with a training period to France where he spent weeks before flying out to Nigeria for the Warri Grand Prix and Senegal for the national and regional competitions.

The African Games followed next on the 22-year-old’s schedule in Congo as he starred for Gambia wrapping up the campaign by rewriting his Personal Best (PB) timing.
