WAFU-A representative at the CAF Pan African School Football Championship in Ghana The Gambia have performed below expectation as they suffered double defeats with humiliating results on Thursday.

The Gambia U-15 girls endured a 3-0 defeat against Uganda in their opener in the early kick off match before South Africa handed them a 5-0 thumping in the afternoon match.

The Gambian girls were resolute in the first stanza of the game as they held Uganda to a goalless draw. But their opponents rose to the occasion after the interval to score three goals and garnered the maximum three points.

As if that wasn’t enough, the South African girls left no stone unturned as they scored twice in the first-half before adding three goals in the second-half to end the game with a five stars performance.

The Gambian side didn’t pose a great threat in both games contrary to their opponents who kept creating chances and eventually capitalising on them. Not getting a goal in both games is telling of their poor performances.

Meanwhile, the team is waiting for the verdict of the Organising Committee in regards to their cancelled game against the Democratic Republic of Congo which was supposed to be their opener on Wednesday. According to CAF, the game was cancelled due to the late arrival of the Congolese team.
