Gambia Revenue Authority Installs New Board to Drive Strategic Growth

The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has officially inaugurated its 4th Board of Directors at its headquarters in Banjul, marking a significant leadership transition.

The newly appointed board, chaired by Dawda Ndure, comprises seasoned professionals with extensive experience in customs and business sectors. Ndure takes over from Lucy Fye Jagne, who led the board for six years, overseeing a major digital transformation that significantly boosted revenue collection and operational efficiency.

In her farewell address, Fye Jagne expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the dedication of her fellow board members, the GRA Commissioner General, and the management team.

Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe commended the outgoing board for their leadership and guidance while expressing confidence in the new board’s ability to further the Authority’s progress.

In his acceptance speech, Chairperson Ndure conveyed his appreciation for the trust placed in him and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to overseeing the implementation of the 5th GRA Strategic Plan, which is designed to enhance the Authority’s effectiveness.

Deputy Commissioner General Essa Jallow praised the contributions of the outgoing board while extending a warm welcome to the incoming members. Outgoing Vice Chairperson Omaru Ceesay reflected on the board’s achievements and encouraged the new leadership to prioritise teamwork. Newly appointed Vice Chairperson Alfusainey KS Camara, a seasoned accountant and auditor, pledged his commitment to supporting the Authority’s mission.

The newly constituted GRA Board of Directors includes: Dawda Ndure – Chairperson, Alfusainey KS Camara – Vice Chairperson, Dawooda Njie – Member, Musa Batchilly – Member, Yankuba Darboe – Commissioner General, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance & Economic Affairs – Member, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade – Member, and Abdurahman Bah – Board Secretary.

With this transition, the GRA is poised to enter a new phase of innovation and enhanced revenue management, reinforcing its critical role in The Gambia’s economic development.
