The Gambia National Library Chairperson has received a donation of new books and 2 computers from ‘Karpowership’ Company at a presentation held at the Gambia National Library’s Brikama branch on Friday February 28th 2020, in preparation of extending library services to regions throughout the Gambia.

During the presentation, Pierre Gomez, the Chairperson of the Gambia National Library said management has decided to extend Library services to identified areas within the different regions of the country from March 2020.

“It is a right for Gambians in rural communities to have access to library services and not to come to the Greater Banjul area for such services,” he said. Mr. Gomez commended ‘Karpowership’ for their contribution to improve and sustain Library services in the Gambia; that if Gambians make the National Library their second home they will soon get the new Gambian they are looking for.

Yankuba Mamburay, ‘Karpowership’ project manager said his Company will continue with their social corporate responsibilities that will assist in the growth of local people as well as providing educational materials for institutions.

“We believe the books and computers will benefit the community and the entire population of Brikama,” he said; that his Company recognizes the importance and urged students and the public to take advantage of the opportunity provided. He commended NAWEC as well as the Government of the Gambia for granting them the privilege to serve the Gambian people.

If readers can recall, ‘Karpowership’ Company signed a contract with the nation’s National Water and Electricity Supply Company (NAWEC) in 2018, to provide 36 MW of electricity for a period of two years.
