Midfielder Hamza Barry’s return to Valletta is being delayed by
visa issues.
The 20-year-old has been unavailable for Maltese premier league champions despite the club vice president confirmation he’ll stay and seeing the remainder of his current contract.
Hamza had an audition with deposed African champions Eperance de Tunis with a strong view to sign the dotted lines. But the Tunisia giants couldn’t come up with a consensus with the Gambian’s representatives over a contract agreement including wages.
As a result, the ex-Gambia Ports Authority attacker now returns to Valletta but that also is being dragged by visa problems, according to the Malta times. The club is however yet to confirm about how soon Hamza would join up with the rest of his squad mates for the new season.
Meanwhile, Spanish top flight club Getafe have had proposal to secure the Nusrat graduate on a season-long loan turned down.
Elsewhere, English Premier League club Swansea City is on the brink of finalizing the signing of uncapped Gambian player Modou Barrow on a deal in the region of 1.7m pounds. 21-year-old Barrow last week confirmed via social media of his switch to Wales to join the Swans.
An agreement is expected to be announced at least today after completing his medical. Should all, go well, Barrow will become Gambia’s first player to trade in the EPL. Omar Koroma came close but fell short of the hype when he signed for then premier Legue side Portsmouth in 2008, but never played a league match.
In Spain, Gambia youth international, Sulayman Marreh’s Granada teed off their campaign with a 2-1 win over promoted DepotivoLacruna. Marreh who’d been tipped to make his debut was left of the squad due to injury but is in contention for a place in coming games.]]>
