By Sulayman Bah A Gambian goalkeeper is thrilled at the prospect of clutching the Senegalese top division title. Alagie Jobe 33 Alagie Jobe who’s also Gambia national team’s man between the sticks, is in the chase for the league title along with his table-topping club side Niarry Tally. They lead the standings on two points after trouncing title rivals Stade De Mbour 2-1 in what was also an all Gambian derby with Jobe up against countryman Yaya Kujabi. Two games remain to the end of the championship and former Armed Forces net-minder Alagie Modou Jobe is already thrilled. ‘Two games left (for end of the league) but we are leading with two points and on difference too. (I’m,) over excited. I can’t wait to be a champion,’ he told Foroyaa Sport yesterday from his base in Grand-Dakar. Dubbed ‘Njoba’ by local Gambian fans, Jobe joined Niarry Tally having penned a three-year deal on an undisclosed sum November last year. He won the GFF domestic gong with the All Whites prior to his departure and qualified to the CAF Champions League qualifiers. Speaking of his experience about the Senegalese league the goalie said his stint there has toughened him up to thrive under immense pressure with demanding fans. ‘Thank God. Here’s a big experience for me. It’s improved me in all aspects of football. Here football is lot of pressure because our fans don’t know losing games. I’m really enjoying the experience,’ he continued. Concluding, he said: ‘The expectations are too high. Anytime I walk around the vicinity, they (the fans) tell me ‘Gambien’ please we’re in your hands. If we lose the league it’s you and if we win it is you as well’ The 26-year-old courted the Senegalese club’s attention while appearing for SK East selection in a test match against Niarry Tally who were then in the country on pre-season tour. Alagie who also had spells in Tunisia, it could be recalled, was Gambia’s star man in the labored goalless stalemate against South Africa in Durban.  ]]>
