A press release issued by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) announces the registration of Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) as a bona fide political party in accordance with Section 105 of the Elections Act and Elections Amendment Act 2015.
The release states that the colour of the new party is purple and the symbol is an open calabash in two palms. It added that the motto of the party is One Gambia One People.
“The party leader is Mr. Mama Kandeh,” states the release.
It concluded that nine political parties are now registered with the Independent Electoral Commission.
