By Mamadou Dem A lower Court in Banjul presided over by Magistrate Samsideen Conteh yesterday 25th November, 2014, issued an arrest warrant for one Sidia Bayo who is accused of assaulting business tycoon, Amadou Samba, to be extradited to The Gambia to face criminal charges preferred against him. The aforesaid person is charged with double counts of “Assault causing actual bodily harm and Assault causing grievous bodily harm,” contrary to the laws of The Gambia. However, Mr. Bayo was not in court to answer to the charges preferred against him. Police prosecutor, Corporal 3962 Hawa Jobe, stated to the court that the accused person is at large and therefore applied for a bench warrant to enable the police to effect arrest and bring him before the court to stand trial. According to the particulars of offence on count one, Mr. Bayo in November, 2014, in Banjul and diverse places, unlawfully assaulted one Amadou Samba by beating him all over his body and caused him actual bodily harm, thereby committed an offence. Count two particulars of offence states that the said accused person in the same month and year in Banjul and diverse places, ‘grievously’ assaulted Amadou Samba by beating him all over his body and caused him grievous bodily harm, thereby committed an offence. Mr Bayo is yet to enter his plea because he was not in court. The trial magistrate consequently adjourned the case to sine die pending the apprehension of the accused person and arraiging him before the court to face trial.]]>
