Gagigo Closes Defence In Wulli Murder Case

Amadou Gagigo the first accused person in the Wulli murder case on Tuesday, 17 October 2023 closed his defence.

Gagigo and Simantang Kandeh are facing murder and robbery charges before Justice Landing M. Sanneh of the Basse High Court. The prosecution alleged that the incident occurred on the eve of the 2021 presidential election in Sare Gubu village, in Wulli East District of the Upper River Region.

The case came on Monday, 16 October, but it could not proceed due to the absence of the counsel for Kandeh. The case was adjourned to Tuesday, 17 October 2023. Still Defence Counsel Kijera for Kandeh did not appear. He did not also provide the court information why he was absent. 

Justice Sanneh then asked Counsel Kebba Baldeh for Gagigo to proceed with his new witness. Barrister K. Baldeh made an application to close the defence case with respect to his client, Amadou Gagigo.

“The witness I intend to bring today did not turn up and is unreachable as well, therefore we intend to close our defence as we have no other witness,” Counsel K. Baldeh informed court.

The case was adjourned to enable Simantang Kandeh prepare and open his defence in the trial.

“Having heard from the defence counsel for the 1st accused person Amadou Gagigo that they have closed their defence, this matter is now adjourned to 30th October 2023, for 2nd accused person Simintang Kandeh to enter his defence if any,” Justice Sanneh said.
