GACH Global Mining Company Ltd on Sunday, 15January 2024 presented a cheque of D500, 000.00 to members of the Village Development Committee of Sanyang village to enhance the community’s development.
The donation was meant to support women of the community in their horticultural endeavours and the health facility of Sanyang.
Mafugi Ceesay, the communications coordinator of GACH Mining Company, outlined the company’s commitment to the improvement of the welfare of Sanyang village and said the gesture is aimed at addressing the concerns raised by the women, who are engaged in horticulture, and the challenges faced by the village health facility.
Amadou Manneh, GACH Mining Company’s site manager explained that the company does not only extract resources but works with the community to resolving some of their challenges, and thereby nurturing a symbiotic relationship.
Mr.Manneh further disclosed that their response came after a comprehensive assessment was conducted at the women’s horticulture gardens in Sanyang. He said GACH Mining Company has also assisted in addressing water-related challenges within the community.
Ms Jonsaba Sillah, the Chairperson of Sanyang VDC, commended GACH Mining Company for their responsiveness to their community’s concerns.
“GACH Mining Company promised to set up an office complex for our VDC, and this will help us build a vibrant community,” she said.
Abdou Colley, Ward Councillor of Sanyang Ward, underscored the importance of supporting the health facility and providing essential facilities for horticulture.He emphasized that health and food security constitute the bedrock of livelihoods, commending GACH Mining Company for aligning their efforts with the government’s agenda.
Councillor Colley pledged to facilitate a collaborative platform by sharing the community’s 5-year Village Development Plan with GACH Mining Company during an upcoming forum.
Omar Baldeh, the Officer in Charge (OIC) of Sanyang health facility, expressed delight at the timely assistance given to the health facility by GACH Mining Company, and extended gratitude to the VDC for their relentless commitment to resource mobilization and fruitful partnership with GACH Mining Company. However, Baldeh appealed for the Company to continue to give sustainable support and additional development initiatives to fortify the community’s progress.
