The Gambia Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Buba Drammeh, a fugitive who escaped from Mile II Central Prisons in 2020, through coordinated efforts between Gambian and Senegalese security forces.
Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, the Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force, announced the development on Wednesday.
“Buba Drammeh was wanted in connection with the murder of Buba Jammeh during a 2020 land conflict between Gunjur and Berending,” PRO Sisawo stated.
He emphasized that the successful apprehension of Drammeh sends a strong signal to criminals.
“This arrest sends a clear message: there is no hiding place for criminals,” he said.
According to PRO Sisawo, the Senegalese Gendarmerie officially handed over the suspect to Gambian authorities.
He assured the public that the police would continue to share subsequent updates.
