Muhtarr Sonko, Principal Inspector at the Food Safety and Quality Authority, has called on shopkeepers and shop owners to comply with their officers investigating expired food products in their shops.

Mr. Sonko said this on Thursday 10th November 2022, when someone complained of an expired product, and was assured that his complaint will be honored with proper investigations. He further urged shop keepers and owners to help them in their investigations saying “sometimes the sources (shop keepers) makes it very easy for us while others make it very difficult because they will not want to provide us with the information on time.”

He thanked the complainant for coming forward and urged consumers to be vigilant and aware of expired products by reporting any (expired product) that has been sold at the market on their toll free line: 1299.
