Gaffer Samson Siasia and his Nigeria U-23s were given test of a tough match after being held to a draw by Young ScorpionsGambia U-20s.

Under flagship of Omar Sise, the Gambia‘s Young Scorpions put on a massive show to apply the brakes on the rampaging Eaglets of Nigeria who earlier taught a footballing lesson to deposed Gambian domestic league champions Real de Banjul.

The Golden Eaglets put three past Real de Banjul without a reply earlier.

And buoyed by such a result, coach Siasia’s charges got off to a flying start dictating the game’s pace with flamboyant free flowing football in the start but the Scorpions matched up to call.

In the end the sides settled for a 1-1 draw with both goals scored from the spot-kick.

The friendly offered Sise stiff test on what to expect ahead of future youth championships and speaking after the duel, coach Omar said: ‘Thank God, job well done. I’m proud of my boys after a one-all draw with Nigerian U23 national team. May God keep guiding us’

It was the Young Scorpions’ first real test game after leaving the Wade Wafu Cup in acrimonious circumstances in Senegal.
