The Managing Director of Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) Mr. Lamin Sanyang, Managing Director of the Social Security & Housing Finance Corporation Mr. Edward Graham, the Managing Director of the Gambia Telecommunications Company Mr. Baboucarr Sanyang, the Managing Director of Gambia National Petroleum Company, Baboucarr Njie and Deputy Managing Director of Gamtel Mr. Malang Bass were on Friday, 10 March 2017, invited to Police headquarters for questioning and were released on bail that very day, according to the Police spokesperson.
Inspector Foday Conta disclosed that their arrests relates to how certain bank accounts were managed and handled by their respective institutions, adding that after the preliminary stage of questioning they were all released on bail on that very day, with the exception of the Gamtel duo who were later granted bail on Saturday, 11 March.
However, spokesperson noted that all the senior officials were asked to be reporting at the headquarters starting from today.
Mr Lamin Manjang who had served during the Jammeh’s regime as managing director of The Gambia International Airlines, has now taken over from Mr. Graham at Social Security.
