Former SG Sabally’s Case Adjourned

By Kebba Jeffang The bail application expected to be filed by the defence in the trial of Mr. Modou Sabally SGMomodou Sabally, the former Secretary General, Head of Civil Service and Minister for Presidential Affairs, did not proceed at the Banjul High Court on Monday, 27th October, 2014 as the trial judge did not sit. The case is before Justice Mikhailu Abdullahi . This reporter was informed that the case was adjourned to Wednesday, 29th October, 2014. It could be recalled that during the last court proceeding Mr. Sabally was charged with additional five charges. The charges include two counts on ‘Economic Crimes’, three on ‘Abuse of Office’, two on ‘Neglect of Official duty’ and a single count on ‘Giving False information to a Public Officer’. He however pleaded not guilty to all the charges. It was then that the case was adjourned to Monday, 27th October The court at this juncture adjourned the matter to yesterday with each of the two parties given 30 minutes to argue on the issue of the bail application.  ]]>
