By Mustapha Jallow Foroyaa has been reliably informed that Momodou Sabally, the former Secretary General, Head of the Civil Service and Minister for Presidential Affairs under the APRC Modou Sabally SGgovernment, who is presently undergoing trial, has been arrested again on Friday, 5 June 2015, between 5pm and 6pm and detained. Former SG Sabally, who is on court bail, is currently standing trial for alleged economic crime at the criminal division of the high court of the Gambia presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amadi. A family source disclosed that some men in plain clothes, said to be from the Banjulinding Police Station and who were waiting for him at his family residence in Lamin, picked him up as he returned from the mosque where prayers for his mother’s 40 days charity were observed. He was first taken to the police station at Banjulinding before being transferred in the night to the Serous Crime Unit at police headquarters in Banjul, according to the source. The source added that the family is allowed access to Mr. Sabally at the police headquarters, but that they do not know the reason for his arrest and detention. Visiting the Sabally family home, this reporter found a sombre environment as relatives, neighbours and friends came to sympathise with them and attend the 40 days charity of their deceased mother. Sabally was first arrested and detained at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul on 7th July 2014 after he was removed from his position as Secretary General, Head of the Civil Service and Minster of Presidential and briefly appointed as Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology. His lawyer applied for bail but he was remanded in custody at the NIA by the High Court on 11 August, 2014. The case was adjourned for hearing on 14th October. He was later taken to Mile Two prison on 25 November before being granted bail.  ]]>
