Mr. Sulayman Samba, the former Secretary General, Head of the Civil Service and Minister for Presidential Affairs, is being held for 7 days now at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul.
According to a close family source, Mr. Samba was detained last Friday, 22nd July 2016, amidst the celebration of the 22 years since the present AFPRC/APRC government came to power.
The source revealed that Mr. Samba was at home on that very day when he received a phone call from an unknown caller who asked him to go to Banjul right away. The source added that the former Secretary General without hesitation complied and left home immediately for Banjul in order to meet with the caller. He said since then the former SG did not return home or communicate to them.
The family source confirmed that Mr. Samba is presently detained at the NIA and that they are yet to have access to him at his place of detention.
Mr. Samba was appointed as Secretary General, Head of the Civil Service and Minister for Presidential Affairs on 23 November 2015 and removed from these positions on 30 June 2016.
