The Banjul Magistrates Court has on Thursday 9th November 2017, adjourned the criminal trial involving Ensa Jesus Badjie as the complainant and three accused persons.
When the case was called before Principal Magistrate Isatou Janneh-Njie, the State Counsel L. Jarjue was present whilst the defence attorneys were absent. The claimant Ensa Jesus Badjie, former Inspector of General of Police, was also present together with the accused persons.
The State Counsel applied for an adjournment to enable the defence lawyer Pa Harry Jammeh, to come to court because he has some documents to tender and he wants to tender them in their presence, for the interest of justice.
The trial Magistrate adjourned the matter to November 2017. The accused persons, Banta Jaiteh, Bakary Bojang and Ensa Badjie face seven criminal charges regarding land dealings, sometimes in 2014, that is said to belong to Ensa Jesus Badjie, former Inspector General of Police. The three are accused of wilfully procuring and transferring land without authority that belongs to the Ensa Jesus Badjie, former Inspector General of Police of the Gambia.
They are charged with conspiracy to defraud contrary to section 292 of the Criminal Code, obtaining goods by false pretence contrary to section 288 of the CC, intend to defraud and obtain money from one Kutubo Ceesay, an amount of two hundred thousand dalasi (D200,000.00) and forgery contrary to Section 322 of the CC, obtaining registration by false pretence contrary to section 295 of the CC and some other criminal charges.
