Ensa Badjie, a former Inspector General of Police of the Gambia was laid to rest on Thursday, 13th of June 2024 at a cemetery held in London Corner, Serrekunda.
The Office of the Inspector General of Police on Thursday, 13th June 2024 announced his demise.
This sad event according to the Police occurred at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul on Thursday, 13th June 2024.
He was a victim of rights abuse by the former regime as documented in the report of the defunct Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC).
Jesus, as many fondly called him, served in various capacities in the Gambia Police Force, including Crime Management Coordinator and Police Commissioner.
The Sibanor native last held the position of Commissioner for the Upper River Region. Many Gambians took to social media to mourn him and hailed him for serving the country.
Late IGP Badjie served as Inspector General from 2008 to 2010. He was later dismissed by the former government of Yahya Jammeh. After the change of government in 2016, Barrow’s government reinstated him as a Commissioner of police and was he deployed to Basse, Upper River Region, of the Gambia.
Foroyaa joins the family, friends, well-wishers, the police, and the entire Gambia in mourning late IGP Ensa Badjie.
