Former APRC NAM Unveils Secrets for Joining UDP

The former national assembly members of the ruling APRC join the United Democratic Party for reasons undisclosed but now unveiled. The former NAM Abdoulie Sankung Ceesay told people who were in a UDP rally for Bundung Constituency held at Nema that he is speaking on behalf of the UDP leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe who he said travelled to Senegal for their Independence celebration slated April 4.

He said during the transition era in the years of 1994 to 1996 he was an active member of the AFPRC adding that he and 21 others decided to join UDP. “During the Jammeh’s regime I use to tell people that the opposition cannot do anything and he will always work for the government of the day” he said. According to him when the Gambians decided to change government throw the ballot box, ‘we do not have any option but to join the new administration’. He added that he and the other NAM organised a consultative meeting to discuss on the issue of which party to join and thereafter they agreed to join UDP describing it to be the ruling party. In his narration they looked into the affairs of all the political parties of the country but decided to join UDP.
