The Drug Law Enforcement Agency the Gambia Airport Command on Saturday, 5 October 2024 arrested a Portuguese National with suspected cocaine concealed in his pants.
Mr Oquica Vaz Monteiro a 46-year-old Portuguese national was arrested by DLEAG airport command with forty-five pellets of suspected cocaine which was concealed inside his pants while flying from the Gambia to Barcelona.
In a similar but separate development, Mr Ousman Saidyba DLEAG’s public relations officer said 36-year-old Alieu Barry, a resident of Basse Koba Kunda was arrested by Basse DLEAG station with four bundles of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in cement papers, red carton and inside a multi coloured bag respectively.
“24-year-old Pa Manjang, a resident of Farafenni was arrested by Farafenni DLEAG station with one bundle and twenty wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in cement paper, yellow and black coloured bag and a multi coloured nylon bag respectively,” he said.
He said 20-year-old Sambou Bah, a ceramic worker, and 30-year-old Ebrima Jallow, a driver by profession who reside in Sukuta and Nema Kunku respectively, were arrested by ACU of Gambia Police Force with seven wraps of suspected kush which was concealed in white papers and inside a medical sachet.
“19-year-old Mustapha Ceesay a resident of Nema Kunka and a driver by profession was arrested by Bundung DLEAG station with seven wraps of suspected kush which was concealed in white papers,” he said.
He said 25-year-old Musa Singhateh, a resident of Saba Village and a businessman by profession was arrested by Kerewan DLEAG station with fifty wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which were concealed in white papers and placed inside a multi coloured cross bag respectively.
He said a 50-year-old Kaddy Demba a resident of Brikama Santasu was arrested by Brikama DLEAG station with thirty-six pills of ecstasy which were concealed in a transparent nylon bag and a multi coloured bag with a cash amount of D27,545.00 which is believed to be proceeds of the illicit drug trade.
He said a 42-year-old Sutay Jobarteh a resident of Brikama Gidda was arrested by Brikama DLEAG with seventy-nine wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in the pocket of his trouser.
“25-year-old Cheikh Dabay Thiam, a Senegalese businessman was arrested by Barra DLEAG station at the Barra Ferry Terminal with seventy-nine pills of ecstasy which was concealed in a transparent nylon bag,” said Saidyba.
He said 47-year-old Alfred John Francis a resident of Siffoe Village and an American was arrested by CTI DLEAG station with two parcels, two wraps, and nine plantations of suspected cannabis sativa which was concealed in a small black box.
He said all the suspects were taken into custody while further investigations into their respective matters continued.
