Flood Victim Resorts To Making Rafts For Shelter

As the flood waters recede across Kuntuar and satellite villages, Abdoulie Ndow, a flood victim at Mbyen village in the Niani District, informed this medium that he has now built a raft house to temporarily live with his family, as schools re-open.

Mr. Ndow, together with many other flood victims of the village, has been sheltering in the vilage’s Lower Basic School classrooms due to the recent floods that hit Kuntuar and satellite villages, leaving his entire compound totally destroyed. According to Mr. Ndow, he is now busy building a house for his family by using tree branches.

According to Abdoulie Ndow, when his house collapsed during the floods, he sheltered himself together with other families, in the school’s classrooms; that now that schools are about to open, they have no option but to leave the school premises, where he is currently housed. Mr. Ndow stated that he is in dire need for support to facilitate the reconstruction of his two houses to return to living the normal life he had, with his family.

Abdoulie Ndow is currently living in the school with his family and that of his brother’s and desperately works to finish his raft house before schools re-open.
