Gamtel will feature as the sole Gambian team in Caf this year, following Wallidan’s withdrawal for financial Wallidan Football clubreason.

The Blue Boys were due to face Algerian giants MC Oran this week for the first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.

But Foroyaa Sport understands the Football Federation Cup holders have opted out of the tournament after it faced difficulty in footing the bill that comes with participating in such a competition. Wallidan would have first hosted the Algerians before returning visit had they muscle the strain.

The news, coming out only recently after been shrouded in much secrecy, comes as blow leaving Gamtel FC as Gambia’s only hopes.

This is not the first time Wallidan have pulled out of CAF tourneys as they also did the same in 2009 when they were on brink of taking on Morocco’s Ittihad Zemour in the Orange Champions League preliminary round.
