Farmers in Eastern Gambia Express Satisfaction with Early Maturity crops

Farmers in the Central River Region (CRR) and Upper River Region (URR) have expressed satisfaction with the early maturity crops.

In pursuit of Foroyaa updating its readers at each stage of the farming season, this reporter reached out to farmers in the eastern part of rural Gambia to assess crop performance while farmers are busy harvesting their early maturity crops, especially maize, early millet and beans.

Alagie Baldeh, a farmer from Sare Demba in Upper Fulladou West in CRR South, told Foroyaa that the harvest on the early maturity crops such as maize and early millet are satisfactory.

“All those who have cultivated any of these early maturity crops have a good harvest,” he said.

Sulayman Krubally from Sami Madina in CRR north said within their area, early millet, beans and maize have done well as far crop yield is concerned.

According to him, farmers in that area are now busy harvesting these early maturity crops.

Yoro Jawo from Tabajang Jimara in URR told foroyaa that whoever has engaged in the cultivation of millet, beans or maize this year, will have a good harvest.

Sulaiman Bayo from Passamas in Wulli East also expressed satisfaction with these early maturity crops.
