Family unable to access corpse of mentally ill person After 16 days

By Sailu Bah The family of the late Bakary Bojang, alias Gosso, said to be a mentally ill youngBakary Bojang, alias “Gosso” person who allegedly died from gunshot wounds on 30 December 2014, is still unable to access his corpse at the mortuary of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul, according to a family source. This family source indicated that for 16 days now they have been waiting to be called to collect the corpse of Bakary in order to give him an appropriate burial in accordance with religious rites, but in vain. “We have been making efforts to have access to his corpse but without any success. Everyone in the family is worried and grieving the loss of this harmless young man. We have also contacted some senior officials on the matter but are yet to receive any positive response,” revealed the family source on Tuesday, 13th January 2015. The source also noted that the aging mother of the late ‘Gosso’, who is said to be a hypertensive patient, is devastated by the death of his mentally ill son. The source indicated that the family is appealing to the authorities to be considerate and release the corpse of their son, brother and uncle for them to bury him.
