The Conteh family in Kanifing South is seeking assistance for their eight-month-old baby to get overseas treatment.
According to his medical report from the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul, the baby was diagnosed when he was three weeks old, with features of downs’ syndrome and a cyanotic congenital heart disease with recurrent fast breathing and hypoxia.
The baby had two admissions at the hospital in the past four months, and is currently being followed at the Paediatric Cardiology Clinic at EFSTH.
Upon examination, the baby’s report indicates that he is not in any obvious distress and he is not pale, cyanosed or a-febrile with dysmorphic features; that his temperature remains at 35.3°c with a pulse rate of 146 b/m; o-sat of 90%; weight of 6.1 kg and RR of 29/m.
On the cardiovascular system of the baby, the report said his pulses are full and regular, with a loud systolic regurgitant murmur at the erb’s point.
The report further indicated that the baby’s respiratory system is clinically clear; his central nervous system is consciously alert with global hypertonic. On his digestive system, the report indicates the full normal oral findings in the baby’s abdomen as full and soft, and moves with respiration and no palpable organomegaly.
The Conteh family calls on philanthropists and Non-Governmental institutions among others, to come to their aid.
