By Muhammed Sailu Bah Mamudou B. Sarr, a former commander of the Gambian Navy, who was picked up and detained five years ago, has not been among those released, revealed a close family source. The source told Foroyaa that when they heard that detainees were going to be release on Friday, 24 July, they went to the prison at Mile Two with the expectation that their loved one would be among them. “Unfortunately, we waited until the last person was released but our brother was not there. When we enquired from the officials, we were told that he was not among the list of released detainees,” said the family source. Former Navy Commander Sarr, according to the source, was picked up at his residence at Kerr Serigne more than five years ago and has not been seen or heard from since then. “We still don’t know his whereabouts,” he added. Sarr is said to be the sole breadwinner of his family and is said to have two kids and a wife. The source said they are appealing to the authorities to help in the tracing and release of their loved one.]]>
