Former Gambia national team goalkeeper Baboucarr Saho has passed away.
Known to fans as goalkeeper Saho, Baboucarr featured for two Serekunda based football teams the Chossan and Kwame FC of then Gambia Football Association (GFA). Gambia Ports Authority, Mass Sosseh and the Gambia Eleven (national team) were the other the teams he played for.
Goalkeeper Saho was described as a fearless competitor in his footballing days. He was said to be a loving calm and compassionate person.. He was buried at the Serrekunda cemetery.
Leading the tribute line was Wallidan.
“Today 10th day of October 2015 marks a big loss to The Gambia’s Football Fraternity and The Gambia as a whole. Inevitable Death has claimed our greatest goalkeeper in our country’s football history. We have today lost BABOUCARR O.K SAHO aka SAHO, BABU JINNEH after a long illness. He will be laid to rest today at 5pm at the Serre Kunda cemetary.

“My heartfelt condolences to the entire Saho family and the ex football colleagues, may Allah bring you in jannah,” said Sang Ndong, a former Gambia national team net-minder and current Hawks coach.
Present at the burial were former Gambia national team players, sympathisers, colleagues and loved ones.
