Ousman Jammeh, the former deputy Minister of Agriculture, is still being held incommunicado at the Mile Two prison without 
charge for almost ten months now.
Since he stepped out of his house on Thursday, 15 October 2015, Mr. Jammeh did not return to his home, according to a close family source.
As of today, he has spent 301 days in detention without charge, court appearance or access to his family, added the source.
The source indicated that several efforts have been made to secure the release of Mr. Jammeh but have all proven unsuccessful.
The former deputy agriculture minister was arrested when he was en route to officiate the commemoration of World Food Day in Basse, Upper River Region (URR). It was reported that the two orderlies of Mr Jammeh who accompanied him were escorted by the agents to his family residence in Kanifing South where the news of his arrest was disclosed to his family.
He was first held at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul for 91 days before being transferred to Mile Two Prison where he is detained incommunicado since then.
The family later traced him to the NIA office in Banjul and attempted a visit on Saturday 17 October 2015 but were not allowed to see him or deliver food and other items such as clothes and toiletries.
The source indicated that Mr Jammeh is still being held at Mile Two prison and that the family have attempted several unsuccessful visits, the latest being on Tuesday, 21 June, 2016.
The source further noted that both Mr. Jammeh’s wife and mother are being traumatised by the long detention and lack of access to their husband and son respectively.
