Mr. Ousman Jammeh, a former ‘Deputy Minister’ of Agriculture, who served in the position for only 4 months, is still being held 
at the Mile Two Prison without being released, charged or having access to his family.
A close relative of Mr. Jammeh revealed that the family had made several attempts to access him at his place of detention but without success and that they very concerned about his current state of health.
The source indicated that the family has never been told what Mr. Jammeh has done to warrant his incommunicado detention for more than six months now.
“We are really urging the government to release him as he is the breadwinner of his family,” appealed the source.
The former deputy minister of agriculture was removed from President Yahya Jammeh’s cabinet on Thursday, 15 October, 2015 immediately after he had attended an official function in commemoration of World Food Day in Basse in the Upper River Region of the country.
According to the sources, it was on his way home that he received a call leading to his arrest and subsequent detention.
Mr. Jammeh’s detention without charge has exceeded the 72 hours duration in violation of Section 19 of the 1997 Constitution of the Second Republic which states that “Any person who is arrested or detained… who is not released, shall be brought without undue delay before a court of law and, in any event, within 72 hours.’’
