EPL PLAYER MODOU BARROW IN GAMBIA

The winger, who trades his services with Swansea City of Wales is understood to be injured, is making his brief sabbatical with a visit to the Gambia – reportedly his first since signing as a premier league player September last year. Barrow, the first player to join the EPL from Swedish side Ostersunds FK, initially on loan before penning a permanent deal in January, sustained an abrasion to his knee from a Ryan Bertrand’s dangerous tackle in Swansea’s slender 1-0 win over Southampton. Bertrand got sent off for his action. The quick-fitted left footer who made his debut against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal is sandwiched between two countries –Sweden and Gambia – as both try to have him commit to their national teams. Modou is a Gambian but his career took off in Sweden –his adopted country –playing for Norrkopping in the top tier before moving to Ostersunds and then Swansea. He was the subject of attention following Gambia Football Federation Technical Director Ebrima Manneh’s reported comments on Swedish paper Expressen in January that the youngster has switched his allegiance to Gambia. This sparked an immediate reaction from the player’s agent, Miro Jaganjac, denying the claims. The former Norkpping starlet, it is understood, is in no rush to commit to international football, preferring to leave his options open and focus on reveling with Swansea in the EPL.]]>
