Lamin Camara, a veteran teacher at Rosastou International School, Saturday launched two books.

The books are titled ‘The Dream Journey of Abou’ and ‘Mr Browny and the Village Solomon’.

The books teach moral lessons of patience, goodness, perseverance, steadfastness, hope, dedication, hard work, and humbleness among other virtues.

The launching ceremony of the books was graced by veteran politicians, Halifa Sallah and the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Seedy Njie among others.

In reviewing the book, Halifa Sallah said the book aspires to teach good virtues to transform society.

He commended the author for presenting moral lessons in the books.

‘The personification of values and virtues are what characterised these books,’ he said

He said life must be lived for a purpose in the pursuit of the supreme good which the book teaches.

He urged students and young people to read the books, adding that books are replacing storytelling that used to teach good moral lessons and virtues.

He further added that writers are now taking the place of storytellers, adding that writing stories is adding eternity to Gambian literature.

‘This is what Mr. Camara did with his books,’ he said.

Halifa further said that these books should be introduced into the education system for the students to access and read them.

In delivering the launching statement, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Seedy Njie said the newly launched books are guides to future leaders of the country, as they teach them good morals and virtues needed to serve the country better.

He added that the books contain relevant messages for young people, therefore, they need to read the books.

He urged young people to take advantage of the books to read and benefit from them.

In her speech, Madam Sarr of Future In Our Hands, said: ‘Therefore, we need to encourage people like Lamin Camara who can tell stories to our children.’

She urged young people to read these books to learn good virtues, values, and morals that will be beneficial to them in their lives
