Former Gambian international footballer Ebrima Sohna has hinted that more information in regards to plans for the new football club he and another Gambian international player purchased recently are underway.

Former Scorpions’ midfielder Sohna and Hamburg forward Bakery Jatta jointly purchased a third division side Fortune Academy from Fortune Football Club. Fortune Academy is a third division team playing in the West Coast Regional Football Association Third Division League.

Fortune announced the sale of the side to the duo last weekend stating in a dispatch that they decided to transfer the ownership of Fortune Academy after much consideration.

“Henceforth, the daily administration and everything about the team has been transferred to the duo effective Monday, January 9, 2023,” Fortune FC stated.

Sohna wrote on Facebook on Tuesday evening where he confirmed the purchase of the club with his” brother Bakery Jatta of Hamburger SV”.  He said the Fortune Academy will work in two Ways. One is to have a football club competing in the third tier and two, is to have a football academy training U9, U10, U11, U16 and U18 players.

“The main priority of the academy is to give help to the younger generation in different categories, not only about playing football.

“We will announce a full management of the academy including head coach – but more importantly, I will always be around to help the kids [and] teach them how to be mentally [and] physically ready for a professional career ahead, including how to take care of their professional contracts,” Sohna wrote on Facebook.
