Malang Sarjo and his 18 year old nephew, Lamin Sarjo, are still not seen or heard from by their family since their reported arrest by the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) on 9 May 2016.

Mr. Sarjo, the driver of a commercial ‘gele gele’ van, and the nephew who is his apprentice, are said to be held at Janjangbureh prison, according to the family.

Amie Badjie, the wife of the missing driver, is still expressing her frustration and concern about the whereabouts of her husband.

On 21 June, 2016, she told this medium that as at now she and her young family are suffering because the one who used to provide fish money for them has been abducted.

“We heard that they are being held at the Janjangbureh prison but this is yet to be confirmed as no official has informed us about their arrest and place of detention. All what I can say is that since he was hired by the supporters of UDP, they have not returned home,” the wife disclosed.

However, it was earlier revealed by Mr. Sarjo’s wife that the commercial vehicle of her husband was hired by the UDP supporters to transport them from Kombo to Banjul, adding that it was upon their return from Banjul when the two (Malang and Lamin) were arrested together with the supporters.

“My husband is just a driver whose vehicle was only hired to transport people and he has no involvement in any political activities. His absence is being seriously felt now especially as we commence the fasting month of Ramadan with no one to provide fish money for our meals to break our fast in the evening,” she said

The wife is still calling on the authorities to release her husband as he is the sole breadwinner in the family  who also supports the education of their children such as school fees, lunch money, etc.
