With Mamour Mbenga Baboucarr Ndour, alias Malabar, told Foroyaa Arts and Culture, in an interview, that Doh Dajeh Connection is being invited as guest artistes to represent the Gambia at the Festival. He said his etertainment company will be working very closely with Gambian musicians to promote the music and positive common cultural values shared by the two closely related countries i.e. The Gambia and Senegal. Malabar, a musician, who hailed from Nioro in Kaolack region of Senegal, performs various music genres such as Hip Hop (RAP) and Afro Reggae. Malabar, who is also a student studying at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD), expressed his happiness to be in Gambia which he considers to be a second home. He said he has been coordinating and hosting the NIORO DU RIP FESTIVAL and the forthcoming one, this year being the second edition. He said he started music in 2007 and had recorded his first single called ‘Talibeh cheikh’ in 2010, which was produced in music video in Dakar by Lie Production. On his other releases, Malabar explained that in 2014 he produced two songs namely, a reggae beat, entitled “Mboon’, meaning wicked in Wollof, and the ‘Disabled’. According to Malabar, the Nioro Festival seeks to promote culture, showcase those with latent talents as well as peace in their community; and to support those with talent in the society. He added that the festival will be inviting guest artistes from different regions in Senegal and the Gambia. The three days NIORO DU RIP FESTIVAL is slated for the 22, 23 and 24 December 2014. ]]>
