The Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia on Wednesday, 1st January sensitised the residents of Brikama Wellingara on drug abuse.
The event was organised by the Give Back to the Neighborhood Association.
The Agency was ably represented by Dawda Sanyang and Haddy Banna Jatta to deliberate on the effects of drug abuse in the country.
Mr. Dawda Sanyang of Drug Demand Reduction, Media and Advocacy unit presented on the drug abuse situation in the country, classification of drugs and as well as on the progression of use, routes of administering drugs and other substances.
Mr Sanyang called on parents and youths to join in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, drug abuse and related matters.
The fight against drugs is the responsibility of all, he noted, and further advised the youths to stay away from drugs and be careful of peer influence. The session was very interactive and educative.
