Foroyaa has been informed that DJ Lamin Cham is now released on bail
after 20 days in detention at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA)
in Banjul.Cham, who is the host of the ‘Saf Connect’ programme on the Gambia
Radio and Television Service (GRTS), was reported to be arrested on 1
June 2015 at the Banjul International Airport as he was about to board
a flight to embark on a music promotion tour in Europe.
However, the reason for his arrest is not made known, but it came in
the wake of the arrest of the prominent Senegalese Mbalax musician,
Thione Balago Seck, in neighbouring Senegal on alleged counterfeit and
money doubling.
The Gambian DJ was finally released on Sunday, 21 June without charge
or court appearance but is asked to be reporting on bail.]]>
