Discipline was what aided the boys passage says Gambia national U-20 coach Omar Sise. Gaffer Omar Sise

Gambia eased over Sierra Leone over the weekend to fix up a meeting day with Morocco. But Sise speaking in aftermath of the contest admits his charges didn’t stick to his outlined game plan but believes discipline was what saw them sail through.

‘We had our plan and that is what we have applied, although we did not stick to our plan at the opening stages of the game. But thank God, the boys were able to recover quickly,’ Sise who was leading his regiment of soldiers for the first time before home fans, says.

‘But fundamentally, the boys are very disciplined and that has also helped the team to win; although we have prayed for victory and surely God has given it to us – thank God’

Rabat will be the Young Scorpions’ next stop. North African teams have always been tough nuts to crack for Gambian teams but the erstwhile Feni Soccer Club manager is little fazed by such a hoodoo.

‘I don’t depend on my opponents. I am only interested in the team and what matters is the ninety minutes for us to concentrate on,’ he points out.
