Development is about people. It is about improving the lives and livelihoods of the people. Hence when a road or a bridge is being constructed it should, at the planning stage, make provision for the maintenance of the lives and livelihoods of all those who will be adversely affected by the construction.
This has not been the experience of former vendors and other operatives at Bamba Tender/ Yelli Tender and the Kerewan/ Badala Terminals. They are left in limbo.
A government that is committed to the lives and livelihoods would ensure that they cater for such people at the planning stage.
Development may be even or uneven. Building skyscrapers surrounded by slums is uneven development. For development to be even it must also cater form the toiling masses.
