DETAILS OF CORONER’S INQUEST STILL UNCLEAR TO FOROYAA

22

As a paper committed to propagating, preserving, upholding, respecting and defending human rights we express concern that Bora Colley has been detained without trial and died in custody without even Foroyaa focusing  on his detention without trial on time and with consistency before his death as it has always done. It is regrettable that it has gone that way.

A just system must do justice to all and injustice to none. That is why those who govern Republic are required to do so without fear or favour, affection or ill will. Those who manage or seek to manage the affairs of citizens who are equal to them and lead based on their consent should never hold any citizen in custody because of their disaffection.

Tolerance of dissent is a hallmark of democratic conduct. Be and let others be what they want to be. That is the democratic status of the Republic.

A reporter was assigned to cover the inquest. Somehow, it could not be covered as intended. Now efforts are being made to get the records. If we succeed the findings will be published as well as how the country should respond to the death.
