by Ousman Sillah Mr. Sheriff Faye, the Deputy Commissioner of Petroleum, has been detained since 14 July 2015 and now Sheriff Fayeheld incommunicado at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul beyond the 72 hours requirement of section 19 of the Constitution of the second republic of The Gambia.According to a close family source, Mr. Faye was picked up from his office on that fateful day and taken to the NIA office. The source further revealed that initially the family was allowed access to him at his place of detention but that this was stopped about a week before the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. “The family no longer has access to him since then,” he added. The source also indicated that they do not know why he is being detained and not released.]]>
