Dembo Darboe, commonly called Touray Darboe, who went missing after
his arrest at his home in Kafuta since 16 April, has now been seen by
one of the relatives at the headquarters of the National Intelligence
Agency (NIA) in Banjul.Bala Musa Darboe, the younger brother of Dembo, said one of their
sisters told them that she saw him in a brief encounter at the NIA and
where they had a short exchange. He said according to the sister, their
brother (Dembo) is safe and well but is wondering why he is being held
and when he would be released.
He said the family is now relieved that the whereabouts of the brother
is now known and that he is well.
“This information that he is at NIA was received with so much relief
to all the members of the family, particularly to his wife and sick
mother, as his whereabouts is now known and that he is said to be
well. We were all worried about Dembo’s long disappearance
given his mental health condition,” disclosed the younger brother.
He said they are again renewing their call for the authorities to
release their loved one unconditionally from this long incommunicado
detention to enable him rejoin his family.
